RTÉ star Doireann Garrihy records massive boost in income

RTÉ star Doireann Garrihy recorded a massive boost in income last year.

The 2FM Breakfast host, 31, holds cash and assists in excess of €500,000 – according to her company’s latest accounts.

The popular presenter’s company Doireann Enterprises recorded a €110,000 increase in profits on the previous year.

Totalling €532,494 in income in 2022, the Dancing with the Stars host is now one of Ireland’s best-paid media stars.

Doireann landed the 2FM Breakfast Show gig four years ago, after impressing RTÉ bosses with her social media skits.

The comedian co-hosted the popular morning show alongside Eoghan McDermott, before Carl Mullan and Donncha O’Callaghan replaced him.

Doireann began co-hosting RTÉ’s hit series Dancing with the Stars alongside Jennifer Zamparelli earlier this year, after Westlife star Nicky Byrne stepped away from the role.

Aside from her RTÉ salary, the TV and radio star boosts her earnings as a social media influencer – with advertisements, brand partnerships and hosting events for private companies and charities.

She is also a brand ambassador for the car company Renault, and the car she drives is priced at around €50,000.

Doireann, who has been dating comedian Mark Mehigan since last year, purchased her first house in October last year.

The three-bedroom semi-detached house is located near her family home in Castleknock, Dublin, and property records show Doireann forked out €490,000 for the home.

The presenter recently began renovations on the property, and wrote on Instagram at the time: “It’s all happening 🥳 So proud and excited to see my first home taking shape… @tj_omahony have come on board and have made the journey so seamless so far. Long may it all go to plan 😅😂 #collab #firsthome 🏡”

Earlier this month, it was revealed that Doireann was paid €20k to promote Cheltenham.

Brand deals between RTÉ talent and other companies have been subject to intense scrutiny ever since the Ryan Tubridy payments scandal hit headlines in June.

While the deals are separate to RTÉ contracts, it’s understood they have to be approved by a line manager at the state broadcaster.

Social Democrats TD Catherine Murphy has called for a register to be set up for contractors to declare all their earnings, following the lack of transparency by RTÉ.

She highlighted the large sum of money Doireann received for a partnership deal with Horse Racing Ireland as an example of the need for a register.

The politician told the Dáil: “Through a recent set of parliamentary questions I tabled about influencers, I discovered some people can earn quite a lot of additional money.”

“Doireann Garrrihy was paid €20,000 promoting a horse racing festival – actually Cheltenham – by the publicly funded Horse Racing Ireland incredibly promoting an event in a different jurisdiction.”
