RTÉ presenter opens up on the tragic death of her brother

RTE sports presenter, Jacqui Hurley, has opened up about losing her brother, Sean Hurley, when he just was 25 years old.

Sean was a champion motorcycle racer and died in a car accident in Cork when there was heavy rainfall, high winds, and poor visibility.

“Sean was always a glass half-full person,” Jacqui revealed.

Jacqui remembers her brother fondly, and revealed the lesson his death taught her.

“He was one of life’s happy people, on the go all the time,” the 32-year-old admitted to the RTÉ Guide.

“His death taught us how precious life is but it has also taught us how to live life a little bit differently.”

The Cork native admitted that she was upset that her son, Luke, never got to meet his uncle, who she was originally going to name after Sean.

“It broke my heart that Sean never got to meet his nephew,” the mother-of-one revealed.

“We even toyed with the idea of calling our child Sean –  but it would have been too overwhelming to have another Sean around.”

Despite the sadness, Jacqui admitted that Luke reminds her of Sean.

“He looks like him and acts like him.

“It’s like having another little Seanie around the place,” she added.
