He’s one of Ireland’s top rugby players but Rob Kearney has revealed he would have come a farmer had the sporting career not worked out.
Fans are used to seeing the Louth native on the pitch however the athlete claims he would be just as successful hanging out in the barn.
The Leinster native reckons he would have gone into the family business if he hadn’t made it in rugby.

“We come from a farming background, fourth generation, so we’re proud of our roots,” he said.
“We understand the hard work and commitments that farmers put in to all their produce and just what a strong culture we have in this country and it’s something to be proud of.”
“I actually used to do a lot of farming and then I went away to boarding school and had it not been for the rugby it’d probably be back home in Louth on the farm now,” he revealed.
Tradition: Rob’s family have farmed for years
While Rob has branched out into other ventures lately including modelling for Newbridge Silverware and opening a pub with his fellow Leinster team mates – the 29 year old hasn’t ruled out a return to the farm in the future.
“Maybe, who knows,” he told The Herald.
Meanwhile, Rob’s brother Dave admitted that while their’s no sibling rivalry on the pitch – the pair sometimes come to blows at home.
“I suppose sometimes we do fight – it’s not really on the pitch but it’s more indoor sports like FIFA and stuff that we get the fists out for,” he said.
