Nick Munier: I was made have meetings with ex-boss Marco Pierre White while he was in the BATH

Masterchef star Nick Munier has revealed that he and ex-boss Marco Pierre White haven’t spoken in five years – after a massive fall out.

The RTE food expert worked with the hot tempered chef for a decade, including on Hell’s Kitchen, but fell out when he decided to open his own restaurant Pichet in Dublin.

And Nick, 46, revealed it was a breath of fresh air to get away – as Marco ran his business like a “mafia don.”

“He was an amazing character and a complex character but he ran that business like a mafia don and we were like the little minions,” he said.

“I even had a meeting with Marco while he’s in the bath and I’m sitting on the toilet lid. He has this thing that he had a fear of being attacked so I also had to walk him home every night.”

And Nick said that despite being “scared” at walking away from his master, he told Late Lunch Live it was the right decision for him.

“I decided to branch out on my own as you do but I think he got upset about it – we haven’t spoken since which was 2009,” he said.

“I was basically having the banter on the sofa before filming on set and I sort of blurted out that I was ready to do my own thing and Marco wasn’t really listening.

“Then we finished Hell’s Kitchen and then came back to Ireland and I set up his grill room on Dawson Street and he expected me to work in the restaurant but I obviously decided I was going to sign the papers for Pichet.

“I had to forcefully tell the master that I was opening my own place – I was pretty scared but it was something I had to do for my own self.
