Mrs Brown's Boys creator Brendan O'Carroll: 'I'll make another movie or a series – I can't do BOTH'

Mrs Brown’s Boys star Brendan O’Carroll has confirmed he is in talks to do another movie – as well as another TV series.

The Dublin comedian has seen enormous success with his BBC series as well as his summer film Mrs Brown’s Boys D’Movie.

Speaking to Goss.ie Brendan admitted he has to decide next month whether or not he will be returning to TV or starting work on a sequel.

“It’s between the two, Universal are saying they want a movie and BBC are saying they want a new series, so we’re trying to come up with a compromise,” he explained.

“We’ll either do one or the other, but we can’t  do both. It’s just exhausting, it really is.

“A movie really is a year of your life. It’s really, really tough work, not that a series is any easier. A series is pretty hard too, but you’ve lots of support around you. But a movie is tough.

“I’m not making any decisions until the end of January,” he told Goss.ie.

Brendan is home in Ireland for Christmas, leaving his house in Florida for the festive season.

The actor was joined by wife Jenny Gibney and son Danny O’Carroll as they visited sick children at Our Lady’s Hospital in Dublin.

Speaking about 2014 Brendan said he’s still shocked by his success.

“This year was particularly brilliant, more than I was expecting. The TV series at Christmas, having the highest figures on UK TV, for an Irish show that’s unbelievable.

“That the movie was the biggest ever opening for a summer movie – that rocked me. The same with Sky Movies when it went on DVD, it was the biggest ever opening again.

“It’s weird because I’m living in Florida but I get British tourists coming up to me saying ‘I watched you on the plane on the way over.’

“So it’s been a very, very exciting year,” he told Goss.ie.
