Matt Damon set to make guest appearance at Irish book festival – after spending lockdown in Dublin

Matt Damon will make an appearance at this year’s Dalkey Book Festival.

The actor lived in Dalkey for months last year, after filming on his upcoming movie The Last Duel was shut down in March due to the coronavirus pandemic.

One year on, the Hollywood star has been announced as a guest speaker at the Dalkey Book Festival, which will be held virtually later this month.

On Sunday, June 20, Matt will speak to David McWilliams about “lockdown in fairy-tale Dalkey, and his love of Ireland”.

Matt, his wife Luciana Barroso, and three of their children Isabella, Gia and Stella stayed at a luxury property owned by Eddie Irvine last year – which has since been sold for €3.5m.

During an interview with Spin 1038 last year, Matt gushed about his time in Ireland.

“It’s incredible. This is one of the most beautiful places we’ve ever been,” he said about Dalkey.

“Even in the lockdown, they’re like, ‘you got to stay within two kilometres of your house’. Two kilometres here, there’s trees and forests and woods and ocean and I can’t think of any place you’d rather want to be in a two-kilometre radius of.”

“It feels a bit, you know, like a fairy tale here.”

Tickets to the Dalkey Book Festival are available here.
