Kathryn Thomas reveals she’s thrown her hat in the ring for Ryan Tubridy’s radio slot

Kathryn Thomas has revealed she’s thrown her hat in the ring for Ryan Tubridy’s radio slot.

Until earlier this year, the 50-year-old presented The Ryan Tubridy Show on RTÉ Radio 1 from 9am until 10am on weekdays.

The programme was renamed The Nine O’Clock Show following the presenter’s departure from the station, and has been temporarily hosted by Oliver Callan, Brendan Courtney and Maura Derrane.

However, a full-time replacement has yet to be confirmed for Ryan.

Now, Kathryn has revealed she’d love the chance to fill the former Late Late Show host’s shoes.

Speaking to the Irish Independent about whether she’d be willing to take over the slot, the mum-of-two admitted: “I have definitely put my hat in the ring.”

“There are big changes being made in RTÉ 1. It’s a big decision and they’re looking at — not just the presenter in that role, they’re looking at the schedule.”

“So in terms of how that’s all working and how that has gone, I don’t know. But if you’re asking me have I put my name in the ring, then, yes,” Kathryn explained.

“Anybody who gets the privilege of putting their own stamp on the slot has to go in there with confidence.”

The Operation Transformation host explained she’s aware there’ll be “noise” around the role, but the “right person” will have what it takes to “drown it out”.
