Jamie Dornan: ‘I’m glad Cillian Murphy wasn’t a pr**k’

Jamie Dornan has admitted that he’s glad his co-star Cillian Murphy wasn’t a “pr**k” – as he’d heard only good things about the actor before.

The pair worked together for the first time on WWII flick Anthropoid, and thankfully got along great – with Jamie admitting that he knew people that had worked with Cillian before, and said that he was a good guy.

“It’s a tiny industry. Actors all know each other to a point where you always know someone who knows the other person who worked with them.

“If you’re a p****, everyone knows you’re a p****, and if you’re a nice person, everyone knows you’re a nice person.

“I’d known plenty of people who’d worked with Cillian, and he was one of those people I’d only heard good things about,” Jamie told The Hollywood Reporter.

The Fifty Shades of Grey star also joked that he’s “grown up” watching Cillian’s work – taking a pop at 40-year-old Cillian.

“Obviously he’s a great deal older than me, so I’ve sort of grown up watching Cillian’s work. But I’m very much a fan.”

Meanwhile, Peaky Blinders star Cillian revealed that he’s a huge fan of Jamie’s RTE-BBC series The Fall – and revealed why they got on so well on set.

Fan: Cillian loved Jamie’s work in The Fall | BBC

“I was aware of Jamie’s work. I loved The Fall — I was kind of obsessed with that show.

“I think it was kind of coincidental that we were Irish. We could be from anywhere. It seemed to work on camera.

“And there’s very few films — because you make a lot of films and you meet people and you work very intensely and intimately and then you’re gone — but there’s a few where you actually make friends, and this was one.”

Based in 1942, Anthropoid follows Jamie and Cillian’s characters Slovak Jozef Gabcik and Czech Jan Kubis on a mission to assassinate German-Nazi official Reinhard Heydrich.

The actors admitted that they were excited to see the film’s finished result, and said that any thespians that insist they “never watch” their own films – are liars.

“I think any actor that says ‘I never watch my films’ is a liar because you have to watch it at least once — and also you’re going to watch it when you are doing your ADR (automated dialogue replacement).”

“I also think anyone who says it’s pleasant is a liar. But it’s nice to watch it with an audience,” Cillian told The Hollywood Reporter.

“I think you only watch stuff you’ve done once because I don’t think it’s that beneficial to you. I think it’s important to sometimes be like, ‘What’s that thing I’m doing with my face? I didn’t think I was doing that.’ But once is definitely plenty,” Jamie added.
