Ireland’s 2022 Eurovision entry to be selected on Late Late Show special

Ireland’s 2022 Eurovision entry will be selected on a Late Late Show special.

Next year’s song contest will take place in Italy, following Måneskin’s win in the competition earlier this year.

Speaking on Friday night’s Late Late, host Ryan Tubridy said: “In the new year we will have a very very special Late Late Show song contest which I’m extremely excited about.”

A number of applicants will be selected to audition at the RTÉ studios.

The finalists will then be invited to perform on The Late Late Show, where a winner to go forward and represent Ireland will be chosen.

The closing date for applications is October 22, 2021.
