2FM Breakfast Show presenter Doireann Garrihy has paid homage to her temporary co-host Greg O’Shea.

Greg joined Doireann on the popular radio show as a fill in for Eoghan McDermott while he is away doing the voice over for Love Island Australia.

Doireann asked the Love Island winner how his experience had been on the show, and Greg began to get emotional:

“How are you feeling Greg?” Doireann asked.

“I am so happy that the past nine weeks have happened,” he said, getting choked up.

“Sorry, I’m getting a bit emotional now,” he continued. “I really really enjoyed it, I hope the listeners enjoyed it and I didn’t annoy you too much in the mornings,” he said, before thanking the entire team.

“Hopefully I get another gig, thank you and have a great morning everybody!”

Replying to her co-host, Doireann thanked Greg for joining her for the past few weeks.

“Greg it’s been an absolute pleasure to have you. I have to say, people will be people and when Iv’e been out and about people have come up to me and said ‘yeah but what’s he actually like’ and I haven’t a bad word to say.”

“From the get go you have been so positive, you have thrown yourself into it, and that’s not an easy thing to do.”

Defending Greg from criticism after some took to social media to say that 2FM could have made a mistake with his appointment to the role, she said:

“Haters are going to hate, and people are going to go ‘oh you’ve just got in out of Love Island, blah.'”

“You have never done this before and you gave it everything. We were so delighted to have you and you were a pleasure to work with.”
