Keith Walsh reveals why he made his viral IGTV about mental health

Keith Walsh has opened up about why he made his recently viral IGTV video about mental health.

In the video, the radio host discussed the importance of taking care of your mental wellness, and explained that just feeling “grand” isn’t good enough.

The video soon gained national attention thanks to Keith’s honest portrayal of his feelings after he posted it on International Men’s Day.

Speaking on with Jennifer Zamparelli on 2FM this morning, Keith explained why he decided he needed to share his story.

“I felt like I needed to tell people about this for a long time but I just wanted to wait for the right moment, and also I wanted to do it in a way that I was comfortable in what I was talking about and I knew exactly where I was that it could just be a conversation.” he shared.

Explaining what stopped him from putting the video out sooner, he said:

“I think I wasn’t ready. I only started seeing a counselor shortly after the Breakfast Show finished up, it was just one of those things.”

“Since then, as soon as I started seeing this guy I said ‘well people need to know about this’ and I didn’t think lots of people needed to know about this, but a good few men could probably be doing what I’m doing to get the message out there.”

Keith explained that he was asked to do a talk on mental health, but when he went to put pen to paper and plan his speech, he couldn’t find the words, so he decided to talk it out on IGTV, and the video became the dialogue for his  talk.

“Try and be as honest as you can, try and be as vulnerable as you can and see where you end up, and that’s your talk,” he said.
