“When I come from Vegas in December after unifying this belt, I’m gonna come home and have a big family Christmas at home.

“We were only talking about Christmas dinner the other day because Dee [his girlfriend] and her mum are going to come over and cook,” he revealed.

“Vegas is a heavy, heavy place so when I come it’s the fresh air I miss the most. We have amazing fresh air in Ireland,” he said.

“We have better air than the Americans, better food, better drink, better grass. Better everything than the Americans.”

Meanwhile, the sports star thanked Irish fans for their incredible support before the Mendes fight, which saw up to 20,000 fans take over Las Vegas.

“I think I said it best when I said when one of us goes to war we all go to war,” he said.

“I was completely overwhelmed in the ring afterwards. At the weighins even there were ten or 20,000 people, I couldn’t believe it.

“I felt it in the ring and, more importantly, he [Mendes] felt it, he definitely felt the extra man,” he added.
