EXCLUSIVE! Louise McSharry: 'I listened to Taylor Swift to get over my cancer'

2FM DJ Louise McSharry has opened up about what music helped her get through her cancer battle.

Speaking exclusively to Goss.ie, the radio star revealed the hit song helped her let go of her cancer and “get on with” her treatment

“At the very start when I was diagnosed and I was first going to chemo, Shake it Off Taylor Swift, was the big song and I loved it, I still love it, I think it’s a brilliant song,” she said.

“But I used to put it on to kind of cheer myself up in morning if I was going to chemo and I know it’s about shaking off a guy or an old relationship but for me it was let it all go and get on with it.

“I did a lot of really bad dancing – it really irritated my husband actually. I had it on a lot. So that song was a big one for me,” she told Goss.ie.

Meanwhile, the Dubliner will dip her toe into the world of TV with her documentary F**K Cancer on RTE 2 this autumn and revealed she would be “picky” about going on the small screen again.

“I wouldn’t necessarily say I’ll never do TV again but I would be kind of picky I think about what I did,” she admitted.

“I don’t want to do TV for the sake of doing TV but if there was something that is right up my alley then I would definitely consider it.

“It’s nice to have a few things on the go – nobody’s doing one job anymore in media everybody have to be multifaceted, you can’t just be a writer anymore you also have to take pictures or have to do social media,” she revealed.

“Everybody has to do everything so it’s good to have as many strings to your bow.”
