EXCLUSIVE! Ireland AM’s Anna Daly opens up about receiving letters from prison

Anna Daly has opened up about receiving letters from Ireland AM viewers in prison.

Back in October, the popular presenter revealed she had a mystery admirer who sent her letters from jail, describing it as “harmless fun”.

Speaking to Goss.ie ahead of Virgin Media’s Spring schedule launch, the mother-of-three admitted she was fearful that she would receive more letters from inmates after opening up about the experience.

“I was hoping after telling that story, which ended up everywhere, it wasn’t going to encourage other inmates to start writing to me,” she confessed.

“But it hasn’t escalated. We don’t care where people watch Ireland AM from. If they’re tuned in, they’re tuned in, and that’s fine,” Anna added.

The Dublin native previously told the Irish Mirror: “I’ve one guy who sends me letters from jail. It started like I’ll see you for coffee at 11 or I’m looking forward to a visit on Tuesday at 11.”

“I haven’t done too much research on him as I’m afraid of what I’ll find, when I got the first letter it nearly fell out of my hand with the shock.

“I get the odd postcard from him now, his prison number is even on the envelope,” she explained.

“He watches the show and he’s just another viewer communicating, it’s one of those really old school things to do, I think he’s just writing in the hope of making a connection, it’s harmless fun.”
