Dublin GAA star Dean Rock announces his retirement from inter-county football

Dublin GAA star Dean Rock has announced his retirement from inter-county football.

The 33-year-old played for Dublin for 16 years.

The official Dublin GAA page took to their Instagram on Tuesday morning to announce the news.

In a statement, Dean wrote: “The time has come up the Blue jersey and end my playing career with Dublin Senior Football team.”

“I now step aside fulfilled, knowing that I made the most of the opportunity that was given to me. What started as a young boys dream in the back garden to eventually living my dream of representing Dublin is something I take immense pride from.”

He continued: “The last 16 years playing for Dublin GAA would not have been possible without the care and support of so many.”

“I would like to thank the Dublin County board staff, coaches and officials for all they do and all they have done for me throughout the years.”

“To my wife Niamh, your unconditional love helped me through the ups and downs over the years and I am excited about what the future holds. Having our daughter Sadie on the pitch after last years All Ireland final is one of my proudest moments.”
