Dublin band VNXI to perform at annual Oscar Wilde Awards

Irish band VNXI is set to perform at the annual Oscar Wilde Awards in Los Angeles.

The Dublin-based group will perform at the US-Ireland Alliance event on March 7th, which will honour Pierce Brosnan, Molly Shannon and Richie Baneham.

Band members include Kurtis Wade Murphy [lead vocals, acoustic guitar], Noely Musgrave [bass, synth], Andy L’Estrange [lead guitar, keys], and Leo Cassandro [drums].

Trina Vargo, president of the US-Ireland Alliance, said: “VNXI first played our event five years ago. Since then, they have grown and developed both in the US and at home in Ireland, with the help of many people they met through the Oscar Wilde Awards.”

They met Aidan Gillen through the event, and they made a music video together, drawing attention to the housing crisis in Ireland. The video was used by 12 homeless organizations internationally to raise funds domestically.

They’ve been featured at home on RTE, Virgin Media One and Hot Press, in addition to Billboard and The Hollywood Reporter in the US.

This year they embarked on their first European tour, opening for US singer-songwriter Joshua Radin, and recently they signed a sync deal in the US with Joe Rangel at Hauler Music.

Vargo added, “They’re busy recording new music, we look forward to hearing it next month, and VNXI hopes you’ll be hearing it in some of your favorite shows, very soon.”

Studio Ulster has joined Northern Ireland Screen and Screen Ireland as major sponsors of the annual event.
