Dublin actor Barry Keoghan officially joins cast of The Batman

Barry Keoghan’s star just keeps on rising…the Dublin actor has been announced as the latest cast member for the highly anticipated new flick The Batman.

Warner Brothers released the official trailer on Sunday, with fans already praising Robert Pattinson for his lead role as the dark knight.

Announcing the news after the trailer drop, Warner Bros said The Eternals star would be joining the cast to play Officer Stanley Merkel.

In the original DC Comics, Stanley Merkel was the partner of Gotham City Police Commissioner James Gordon.

Barry, 27, shot to fame after first appearing on RTE crime drama Love/Hate, and quickly got cast alongside huge stars, including Nicole Kidman and Michael Fassbender.

The Batman will follow a younger Bruce Wayne (earlier than the previous Ben Affleck movie series), and is set to become a trilogy.

After the release of the debut trailer fans were shocked to learn Colin Farrell appears as Penguin, as he is completely unrecognisable in the new teaser.

The news comes just days after Hollywood A-lister Angelina Jolie praised Barry for his “unique” acting skills.
