Cork charity praise ‘fantastic’ Roy Keane for spending the day volunteering

Roy Keane has won praise for spending the day volunteering at a Cork homeless charity.

The former football star visited Penny Dinners on Little Hanover Street in Cork City and spent an entire day helping them to make sandwiches for those in need.

Caitriona Twomey posed for a photo with the 50-year-old and other volunteers, and praised him for his kindness.

She said: “Plenty of sandwiches being prepared today with the girls of St Angela’s and Roy who seriously is such a fantastic person. When it comes to kindness he is in a league of his own.”

Commenting on the Facebook post, one person wrote: “Superb… He’s an amazingly kind person.. Well done to the girls..”

Another penned: “Has to be statue of him in Mayfield or Cork City. Legend.”

Penny Dinners is one of Ireland’s oldest charities, with it’s roots dating back to the 19th century.

Roy is a Cork native and supports many charities in the area, including the Penny Dinners and Irish Guide Dogs for the Blind.
