Complaints about Ryan Tubridy’s tense interview with Peter Casey dismissed by BAI

This interview was super awkward

The Broadcasting Authority of Ireland have dismissed three complaints which were made about Ryan Tubridy’s tense interview with Peter Casey on the Late Late Show.

The interview, which took place on November 2, caused controversy last year as members of the Traveller community questioned Peter about the views he expressed during his presidential election campaign.

After the interview aired, three complainants accused Ryan of being biased and unfair to Peter.

In particular, two of the complaints pointed out Ryan’s response when Peter asked if he “had lost control”.

The broadcaster replied: “I have absolutely not Peter and I’ll tell you something, if I do, you’ll know all about it.”

Over seven months after the Late Late episode aired, all three complaints were dismissed by the Compliance Committee of the BAI.

The BAI said “a robust or rigorous interview does not necessarily constitute unfairness.”
