Cillian Murphy has good news for fans of Peaky Blinders

Cillian Murphy has some very good news for fans of Peaky Blinders.

The Irish actor recently sat down with Margot Robbie for Variety’s Actors on Actors series,  where he discussed the possibility of a film adaptation of Peaky Blinders.

The Barbie actress revealed she was a huge fan of the BBC series, in which he played crime boss Tommy Shelby from 2013 – 2022.

Margot said: “In my opinion, there are two kinds of people in this world. There are the people who are obsessed with Peaky Blinders, and then there’s the people who haven’t seen Peaky Blinders.

“I obviously sit in the first category, so can we please talk about Tommy f***ing Shelby for just one minute? I mean, that was years and years of your life…”

The 47-year-old actor described his fondness for the “10-year adventure”, which started shooting at the end of 2012.

Margot then asked the question that fans all over the world have been dying to know.

The 33-year-old said, “Is there going to be a spinoff movie?” to which he responded, “I mean, I’m open to the idea. I’ve always thought that if there’s more story to tell …”

Fans have since taken to X to share their thoughts on the possibility of a Peaky Blinders movie.

Reactions have been overwhelmingly positive online, which is no surprise as it has become one of Netflix’s highest ranking shows globally.

One fan said: “Just look at Margot Robbie’s excitement and bring that Tommy f***ing Shelby back Cillian Murphy, please!”

One sceptical fan commented saying: “In this Variety conversation between Margot Robbie and Cillian Murphy, Murphy says he is open to a ‘Peaky Blinders’ movie. That sounds great, but Steven Knight is going to have to find the time as he’s busy writing a Star Wars movie.”

Stephen Knight was the creator of the hit series, which followed the lives of the Peaky Blinders crime dynasty in post-war Birmingham.

The director is currently working a script for the new Star Wars film.

Fans will have to wait and see whether Tommy Shelby will ever take to the silver screen, but it looks promising.
