Brian McFadden has revealed that his relationship with ex-wife Kerry Katona is better than ever, but admitted that it “took a long time to get here”.

The former Westlife star and the Atomic Kitten singer had a nasty split in 2004, just two years after they tied the knot and welcomed two children, Molly and Lilly-Sue.

However, Brian has now admitted that the pair are getting on better than ever.

Speaking to the Irish Sun, Brian said, “We don’t speak about everyday stuff but we do work closely with anything to do with our kids, the same as most separated parents it’s always about the kids.”

“Our relationship is the best it has ever been. There are no fights or arguments, its all good now. It’s taken a long time to get there but I’m glad it’s like that. Kerry seems happy. She has a new boyfriend and her work is going well, doing gigs with Atomic Kitten.”

The singer, who was married to TV presenter Vogue Williams after splitting from Kerry, is now in a new relationship with teacher Danielle Parkinson.

Speaking about starting a family with Danielle, Brian said, “Myself and Danielle are not planning anything, we are only together a year. People asking me about having kids? We don’t have any plans. We are just moving forward. We don’t know what’s going to happen.”

On the topic of his career, Brian is set to perform a Westlife set supporting Boyzone on their 25th anniversary tour around the UK next year.

And when asked if the rest of Westlife would object to him singing their greatest hits, Brian replied, “If they did object, it would be ridiculous because Shane is doing Westlife songs on his tour, and Markus is doing Westlife on his tour.”

“I only sing the 12 Westlife number ones I sang while I was in the band. I’ve as much right to sing them as anyone else who was in Westlife then. I don’t sing the songs Westlife did after I left. I leave that to them.”
