Bad news for fans of The Den

We have some bad news for fans of The Den…

Earlier this year, Ray D’Arcy and Dustin the Turkey confirmed the popular RTÉ show would be back on our screens in January 2022.

But on Tuesday afternoon, script writing company Double Z Creative revealed the show would not be returning after all.

They tweeted: “Well, sad news to report today. We found out from the bosses that #TheDen won’t be coming back after all! Thankz to all the old fans and the new ones for tuning in! We had a blast!”

The Den first aired in 1986, and was hosted by Ian Dempsey until 1990, when Ray took over.

Ray hosted the popular programme for eight years, before Damien McCaul took over as host from 1998 – 2003.

After a series of revamps and changes to the format, the show was eventually axed in 2010, after nearly 24 years on air.

The popular programme returned to RTÉ One last November, and viewers loved the wacky antics of Dustin the Turkey, Zig and Zag, and Ray D’Arcy.
