Aidan Turner ‘avoided the press’ after shirtless Poldark scene

Aidan Turner has admitted that he “avoided the press” after his shirtless scything scene in BBC’s Poldark.

The 33-year-old’s infamous scene was voted by Radio Times readers as the best TV moment of 2015, and previously admitted that the scene was his idea.

Speaking about the scene, Aidan revealed that he was oblivious to the attention he received, because he’s not very active on social media – and he doesn’t play up to the press.

“I don’t hate it. It just to me wasn’t anything,” he revealed.

Fans were treated to another glimpse of the Dubliner’s chest in the new season’s first episode.

“It was just a scene in the show we were doing and the press just jumped on it,” Aidan told Stuff.

“I feel the same way I do about that scene as I do about many other scenes we shot during the show. It doesn’t stand out for me.

“I live in Dublin – I don’t live in the UK so maybe I just avoided the press and I don’t do social media so I didn’t keep tabs on how out of hand things are getting.

“Nothing has really changed for me at all.”

Aidan Turner has also gushed about his Irish co-star in Poldark, his horse Seamus.

“He was great. He’s like an old movie-star horse.

“He’s too good at remembering things. You can’t use words like ‘Action,'” he added.

“When he sees the clapperboard he knows exactly what’s coming up. He knows when that clicky sound happens he takes off,” he added.
