Prince Harry has landed another job, after stepping back as a senior working royal.
Earlier this week, the Duke of Sussex revealed he had taken on the job of Chief Impact Officer at coaching and mental health company BetterUp.
The 36-year-old has since announced that he will join the Aspen Institute’s new Commission on Information Disorder, where he will look into misinformation and disinformation in the media.
Harry said in a statement: “As I’ve said, the experience of today’s digital world has us inundated with an avalanche of misinformation, affecting our ability as individuals as well as societies to think clearly and truly understand the world we live in.”
“It’s my belief that this is a humanitarian issue and as such, it demands a multi-stakeholder response from advocacy voices, members of the media, academic researchers, and both government and civil society leaders.”
“I’m eager to join this new Aspen commission and look forward to working on a solution-oriented approach to the information disorder crisis.”
Harry’s role as a “philanthropic leader” is part-time and will involve regular meetings.
The father-of-one’s new roles come after he revealed he was “cut off financially” by his family after he stepped down as a senior working royal.
Harry and his wife Meghan Markle announced their decision to step back in January last year, before relocating to the US with their son Archie.
The couple have since signed major deals with streaming giants Netflix and Spotify, with Harry telling Oprah during his tell-all interview that they initially had “no plan” to sign deals with “streamers”.
“That was suggested by somebody else by the point of where my family literally cut me off financially, and I had to afford security for us,” he said.
The royal also revealed his late mother Princess Diana had left him money, explaining: “I’ve got what my mum left me, and without that, we would not have been able to do this.”
“All I wanted was enough money to get security and keep my family safe,” he added.
