Una Healy launches music scholarship programmes

Una Healy has revealed that she’s created her very own school of rock.

The Saturdays star has created five Una Healy Scholarships at the Academy of Popular Music, based in the CIT Cork School of Music in Cork City.

“I’m thrilled to be working with the academy on these exciting scholarships,” she said.

The 34-year-old gushed about the academy wishing she had something like that when she was starting out.

“The academy is an amazing school,” Una told the Irish Examiner.

“I would have loved something like this when I was starting out.”

The Academy director Trish Rooney admitted that the Tipperary native loved their idea – and she’s thrilled to have her endorsing them.

“I just ran the idea by her and she loved it and said yes to getting involved.”

“I am thrilled that she is endorsing the academy and helping us to provide this wonderful opportunity for young musicians.

“All of our teachers take into account the interests, abilities and needs of each student,” she added.

“Students will achieve musical excellence in an environment that is fun, encouraging, and positive.”
