Everything we know about Billie Eilish’s new album

Billie Eilish has announced her new album, HIT ME HARD AND SOFT, will be released on May 17th.

This will be the megastar’s third studio album, and her first major record release in three years.

The 22-year-old had been teasing the highly anticipated album over the past week on social media.

Billie took to Instagram to share the news and wrote: “HIT ME HARD AND SOFT MY THIRD ALBUMMMMMMMMMMMMM COMES OUT MAY 17THHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH AHHHHHHHHHH🥹🥹🥹.”

“So crazy to be writing this right now i’m nervyyyyy & exciteddd. not doing singles i wanna give it to you all at once :PPP finneas and i truly could not be more proud of this album and we absolutely can’t wait for you to hear it.”

She signed off the announcement: “love you love you love you.”

The Oscar winner started teasing the release of new music last week, after adding all of her 120 million followers to her “close friends” on Instagram – a list which means only select people can view stories.

She posted on her story just a picture of her hand held up in the water, without any caption or music.

The photo posted was later revealed to be a part of the album cover for HIT ME HARD AND SOFT.

Later, Billie posted a video for everyone to see where she was in water with the caption, “READY?”

However, the announcement of the highly anticipated album has not been entirely smooth sailing.

The album’s tracklist was leaked by Rolling Stone, which Billie slammed in two now deleted Instagram Stories.

She sent a clear message to the publication and wrote: “F*** you guys @rollingstone.”

Her debut album When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go? was released in 2019, and her sophomore album Happier Than Ever was released in 2021.

Last month, the singer won her second Oscar for Best Original Song alongside her brother Finneas O’Connell at the 2024 Academy Awards.

The pair collected the gong for their hit song What Was I Made For? from the Barbie movie soundtrack.

The duo won their first Oscar in 2022 for their song, No Time To Die, from the James Bond film of the same name.
