'Choir Geek' Sile Seoige admits she has always dreamed of a career in music

TV star Sile Seoige has revealed she has always wanted to be a singer – but never had “the confidence to pursue it.”

The former Newstalk presenter was a guest on Ireland AM and told of having singing aspirations from a young age.

“I was your quintessential choir geek at school. I was running down the hall, couldn’t wait to get into choir practice” Sile said.

The 35-year-old continued “I’ve always wanted to do more with singing and music because it’s truly what I absolutely love, but not really having the confidence to pursue it.”

This all seems to have changed for Sile with her charity single Maybe This Christmas being released on December 5.

The presenter admits that battling with cancer helped her to overcome her confidence issues.

“I think I’ve had probably bigger challenges in the last few years. I was sick a few years ago and that kind of changed my perspective on things.”

The TV star is now looking forward to the release of her charity single in aid of Make-A-Wish Ireland and Childline which features stars such as Caroline Morahan, Brian Kennedy and Kathryn Thomas.

However, the Galway native admits she was originally worried as to who would show up to record the Christmas hit as the song process “happened so fast.”

“I was kind of going ‘Who will really turn up?’ on the night [before] because it was so so quick,” she explained.
