Ruth Negga has been nominated for an Independent Spirit Award for Best Female Lead for her role in upcoming film Loving.
The actress, who was born in Ethiopia and raised by her Irish mother in Limerick, has been nominated alongside Natalie Portman (Jackie), Annette Bening (20th Century Women), Isabelle Huppert (Elle) and Sasha Lane (American Honey).
The nod comes as the 34-year-old has been tipped for an Oscar nomination for the same role, ever since the film premiered at Cannes in May.
The film is based on the true story of Mildred Jeter and Richard Loving, an interracial couple who were arrested in 1958 for marrying.
The Independent Spirit Awards will take place in Los Angeles on February 25, the night before the Oscars.
The news comes after it was revealed that Ruth is set to pick up the prestigious Rising Star Award at the Palm Springs International Film Festival in January.
Loving is set for release in Irish cinemas in February 2017.
