Bono told daughter to stay away from acting – fearing she'd be ABUSED like him

Eve Hewson has revealed her dad Bono didn’t want her to go into acting – over fears she’d be constantly abused.

The Dublin actress, 23, recently shot to stardom after grabbing a role in US drama The Knick – which was seen by millions.

But Eve admitted that her famous U2 father initially tried to persuade her against her decision to pursue the career.

She said: “[Bono] is really great, he has a great community of people that he works with that are just his friends and so he hasn’t had to deal with a lot of it.

“A lot of stuff he has had to deal with is people just sort of abusing him. Like abusing him in the press or something like that where people can be mean for no reason.

“And I think that he didn’t really want that for me… My parents were worried, obviously, it’s not the most stable career, and for women it’s really hard.”

And Eve revealed they were also worried about her being judged for the way she looked – before eventually coming on board.

She added: “You are being judged on the way you look all the time, you are being judged on how you are and constantly people are saying no to you.

“I understand that if you have a kid, you wouldn’t be like, ‘Go be an actor!’ You would be like, ‘Go be a lawyer!’.

“So I get it, but they were really protective. But then when they realised I wasn’t going to stop acting, they became beyond supportive.”

And now Eve told Cover Media that Bono has now started to try and get her new roles when meeting famous people.

She said: “Now they are always like, ‘Oh my daughter is an actress and you are a director; you should put her in her movie.’

“And I am like, ‘Oh my God, stop! (laughs) Please don’t do that.’ But yeah, they text me every day about what audition I am doing.

“And they’re like, ‘Good luck!’ and like, ‘Did you get it, did you get it?’ And they are just always overly protective.”
