Actor Pierce Brosnan has revealed he could have been Batman — but turned down the part as he believed the character was a “joke”.
The James Bond star admitted he was offered the main role in the 1989 hit movie but said no.
He said: “I met with Tim Burton for the role of Batman. But I just couldn’t take it seriously.
“Any man who wears his underpants outside his pants just cannot be taken seriously.

“That was my foolish take on it. But how wrong was I?”
The role ended up going to Michael Keaton who played the superhero in two hit movies, while the 61-year-old ended up playing 007.
But Pierce laughed that he had already played the part — as a child growing up in Meath.
He said: “Don’t get me wrong, because I love Batman. As a kid in Ireland, we used to get our raincoats and tie them round our neck and swing through the bicycle shed.”
