Taylor Swift reveals the REAL meaning behind the red scarf in the All Too Well music video

Taylor Swift has revealed the REAL meaning behind the red scarf in her ‘All Too Well’ music video.

The singer released a new edition of her album ‘Red’ last November, which featured six previously unreleased tracks and a 10-minute version of break-up anthem ‘All Too Well’.

She also wrote, directed, and starred in the short film inspired by the track – which stars Stranger Things actress Sadie Sink and Teen Wolf actor Dylan O’Brien as a couple in a tumultuous relationship.

Since the re-release of the song and the accompanying music video, many fans believe that ‘All Too Well’ is about Taylor’s brief romance with Jake Gyllenhaal.

As well as pointing out the former couple’s 11-year age gap in the song, Taylor sings about a scarf she left “at your sister’s house and you’ve still got it in your drawer even now” because “it reminds you of innocence and it smells like me”.

Months after Swifties slammed Jake for breaking Taylor’s heart and begged him to return his ex’s scarf to her, the songstress revealed the real meaning behind the scarf.

During an appearance Friday night at the Toronto International Film Festival to promote her 15-minute short film, the 32-year-old insisted the scarf is “just a metaphor”.

She said: “Basically, the scarf is a metaphor and we turned it red because red is a very important colour in this album, which is called Red.”

“And, I think when I say it’s a metaphor … I’m just going to stop.”
