Dustin Diamond has revealed he’s battling cancer.
The actor is best known for his role as Samuel ‘Screech’ Powers in the hit sitcom Saved By The Bell.
The news was confirmed by the 44-year-old’s team on his Facebook page.
The statement said: “At this time we can confirm that Dustin does have cancer.”
“Dustin will disclose more information once it is available and a plan moving forward is made.”
The Facebook post included an address where fans can send cards and letters to wish him well.
The statement added: “We ask everyone to respect Dustin’s privacy during this difficult time . All positivity and prayers are appreciated.”
The news comes after TMZ reported that Dustin had been hospitalised in Florida this week, after experiencing pain “all over his body”.
The reboot of Saved By The Bell aired in the US back in November, but Dustin did not reprise his role as Screech.
Mario Lopez and Elizabeth Berkley returned as A.C. Slater and Jessie Spano in the new series, with Mark-Paul Gosselaar returning as heartthrob Zack Morris.
Tiffany Amber Thiessen also reprised her role as Kelly Kapowski.
