Nicole Kidman opens up about ‘massive grief’ of suffering miscarriages while with Tom Cruise

Nicole Kidman has opened up about suffering a miscarriage while she was with Tom Cruise.

The 50-year-old actress said the ordeal, which happened over twenty years ago, left her with a “huge, aching yearning.”

She is the striking cover girl for the July issue of Tatler magazine in which she has opened up about the painful experience two decades on.

“I know the yearning. That yearning. It’s a huge, aching yearning. And the loss! The loss of a miscarriage is not talked about enough,” she exclaimed to Tatler magazine. “That’s massive grief to certain women.”

She married Tom Cruise in 1990 and shortly after, when she was only 23, she lost a child due to an ectopic pregnancy. Ectopic pregnancies can be extremely dangerous for the mother and occur when the egg begins to develop in the fallopian tube instead of the womb.

Nicole was lucky enough to get pregnant again however she suffered another miscarriage near the time Tom filed for divorce in 2001. They had been together for 11 years and she had always yearned to be a mother since the beginning of the relationship. In 2007 she told Marie Claire, “From the minute Tom and I were married, I wanted to have babies.”

She also expressed her joy about adopting Isabella and Connor with Cruise as she said, “There’s an enormous amount of pain and an enormous amount of joy on the other side of it.”

“The flipside of going through so much yearning and pain to get there is the feeling of ‘Ahhhh!’ when you have the child.”

The actress married Keith Urban four years after her separation from Tom and was lucky enough to have two children naturally. The couple share daughters Sunday Rose, who is nine, and Faith, who is seven-years-old.
