Nick and Aaron Carter’ sister Bobbie Jean Carter’s cause of death revealed

Nick and Aaron Carter’s sister Bobbie Jean Carter’s cause of death has been revealed.

The singer’s sister sadly passed away at the age of 41 on December 23.

Bobbie Jean appeared on the family’s E! reality TV show, House of Carters, where she featured in eight episodes.

According to an initial case summary report released by the Hillsborough County Medical Examiner Department and obtained by PEOPLE, her manner of death was listed as accidental.

The report said the Backstreet Boys’ sister died of “intoxication by the combined effects of fentanyl and methamphetamine.”

In the “medical history” section of the report, it alleges that Bobbie Jean had been diagnosed with schizophrenia, citing her mother Jane, who is listed as her next of kin.

The report also listed propranolol (an anti-anxiety medication), omeprazole (which treats indigestion, heartburn and acid reflux), clindamycin (an antibiotic) and quetiapine (used to treat mental health conditions like schizophrenia) as “preliminary meds.”

A previous report by the publication revealed that Bobbie Jean was found unresponsive in the bathroom of her Florida home in December.

A source told the outlet that the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office has opened a death investigation, and they also say deputies learned that the mother-of-one was on probation for cocaine possession at the time of her death.

Bobbie Jean’s roommates had since told deputies that she had not used any narcotics since her release from prison — where she was held from late September to early November.

The sheriff’s office also added at the time, that no narcotics or paraphernalia were found in her bedroom or bathroom.

The authorities have also said that there were no signs of foul play.

Bobbie Jean’s mother, Jane, previously told the publication: “I am in shock from learning of the sudden death of my daughter, Bobbie Jean; and I will need time to process the terrible reality of this happening for the third time.”

“When I am able to think clearly, I’ll release a fuller statement; but until then I would request to be left to grieve in private.”

In early January, Nick also broke his silence on his sister’s death, writing that he was “completely heartbroken” as he shared a photo of the two together as children.
