Margot Robbie auditioned for THIS popular TV show before landing breakthrough role

Margot Robbie auditioned for a popular TV show, before landing her breakthrough role.

In 2008, the 33-year-old landed her role as Donna Freedman, a character she played for three years, in Aussie soap Neighbour.

The Queensland native has become of the most famous faces in Hollywood, after making her feature film debut in Richard Curtis’ About Time (2013).

Margot’s breakthrough role was in the 2013 film The Wolf of Wall Street, and she has since starred in blockbuster films including I, Tonya, Suicide Squad and Once Upon A Time in Hollywood.

Before landing this role, the Australian actress auditioned for American Horror Story: Asylum.

It’s unknown which role she auditioned for, but many fans believe it to be Grace [Lizzie Brochere].

In an interview with Backstage, casting director Eric Dawson revealed that the 33-year-old’s audition is one of his favourite auditions ever.

“Margot has a lot of ‘it’ factors. That’s the tough thing for casting directors who aren’t in the room [anymore] with actors,” he explained.

“Margot is probably one of my favourite auditions of all time, and it was right before she broke out. She was such a star.”

“It was crazy, her star appeal when she walked in the room. Even though she didn’t get that role, that was one of those things as a casting director where you go: This is a star, what do we do with her?”

“Immediately, though, she was out of our realm of possibility of hiring. But that’s really the fun part of casting, is seeing the people whose careers are just rising.”
