Kim Kardashian and Kendall Jenner speak out on Astroworld tragedy

Kim Kardashian and Kendall Jenner have broke their silence on the Astroworld tragedy.

On Monday, the Keeping Up With the Kardashians stars took to their Instagram Stories to share their heartache following the deaths of eight fans at Travis Scott’s music festival last week.

Kim wrote: “Absolutely heartbroken for the lives who were lost and anyone who was hurt as Astroworld. Just like all of you, our family is in shock by the tragedy.”

“We are keeping all of the victims, families and loves impacted in our prayers for healing—as well as Travis who we know cares so much about his fans and is truly devastated,” she added.

Kendall, who attended the festival with her pregnant sister Kylie, wrote: “I’m truly broken for the families that have lost loved ones and my prayers go out to everyone involved.”

“Sending everyone who has been affected all of my love and wishing them strength during this incredibly devastating and sensitive time.”

On Friday, eight people died and multiple were injured at the Astroworld music festival in Houston, Texas after a crowd surge.

Travis’ girlfriend Kylie faced major backlash online after fans spotted an ambulance in one of the clips she shared to her Instagram Stories on the night.

Taking to Twitter, fans slammed the 24-year-old for not taking the videos down after news of the fatalities broke, with many calling Kylie “insensitive”.

Kylie, who is expecting her second child with Travis, took to her Instagram Stories to address the tragic events that took place at the festival, and insisted she would have stopped filming if she knew about the fatalities and casualties.

She wrote: “Travis and I are broken and devastated. My thoughts and prayers are with all who lost their lives, were injured or affected in anyway by yesterday’s events. And also for Travis who I know cares deeply for his fans and the Houston community.”

“I want to make it clear we weren’t aware of any fatalities until the news came out after the show and in no world would have continued filming or performing.”

“I am sending my deepest condolences to all the families during this difficult time and will be praying for the healing of everyone who has been impacted.”

Travis also addressed the incident on his Instagram Stories, saying: “I just want to send out prayers to the ones that were lost last night.”

The 30-year-old, who’s real name is Jacques Bermon Webster II, added: “We’re actually working right now to identify the families so we can help assist them through this tough time.”

“My fans really mean the world to me and I always wanna leave them with a positive experience and anytime I can make out anything that’s going on, I stop the show and help them get the help they need, you know? I could just never imagine the severity of the situation.”

“We’ve been working closely with everyone to just try and get to the bottom of this… If you have any information, please just contact your local authorities. Everyone continue to just keep your prayers.”

“I’m honestly just devastated. I could never imagine anything like this happening. I’m going to do everything that I can to keep you guys updated and keep you guys informed on what’s going on. Love you all.”

Travis has since been sued by a concertgoer, with the lawsuit claiming the tragic event was “predictable and preventable”.

It alleges that the defendants would “ensure a safe, secure, and positive environment” for everyone in attendance, but that a “motivation for profit at the expense of concertgoers’ health and safety, and due to their encouragement of violence, at least 8 people lost their lives and scores of others were injured at what was supposed to be a night of fun.”

Goss.ie have contacted Travis’ rep for comment.
