Game of Thrones reveals season 7 premiere date and releases new teaser

Game of Thrones will be returning to our screens soon – or to be more exact, in four months time.

HBO announced on Thursday that season seven of the smash hit show will premiere on July 16th.

After a video showing a giant block of ice melting was shown on Facebook Live, fans were treated to a new teaser.

The clip showed graphics of dragons and was accompanied by soundbites from different character’s, including Emilia Clarke’s Daenerys Targaryen.

“I know what my father was, what he did,” she can be heard saying. “I know the mad king earned his name.”

Daenerys also says, “Lannister, Targaryan, Barathean, Stark, Tyrell – they’re all just spokes on a wheel. This one’s on top, that one’s on top, and on and on it spins, crushing those on the ground.”

Meanwhile Cersei (Lena Headey) is declared the Protector of the Seven Kingdoms and Jon Snow (Kit Harington) is heard saying, “There’s only one war that matters, the great war. And it is here.”

Game of Thrones is set to end next year after its eighth season. Watch the season seven teaser below:
