Fans are paying their respects to Aretha Franklin – as her body is displayed in Detroit museum

Fans will be paying their respects to Aretha Franklin over the next two days, as her body is displayed in a Detroit museum.

The singer is resting in an open casket today and tomorrow so that fans can pay their respects before her private funeral on Friday.

Aretha is resting in the Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History until Wednesday.

The singer’s rose-gold casket arrived at the museum an hour ago, while fans waited outside the museum.

There were crowds lined up outside the museum since 3AM, waiting for the facility to open so that they could pay their respects to the Queen of Soul.

The museum was reportedly chosen because Rosa Parks’ viewing also took place there in 2005, according to BBC.

The museum will open 9AM to 9PM today and tomorrow.
