We’ve had to do without this year but a new series of Love/Hate is in the pipeline.

According to a TV Insider, a new series of the show is in the works which will focus on pipe bomber Patrick, who is played by John Connors.

“While scenes are not yet being filmed, locations and new talent are being scouted for Love/Hate’s big comeback,” a source said.

“Bringing the focus to Patrick and his background will open up the show to a whole new legion of fans.”

Speaking to the Irish Mirror, the source revealed Tom Vaughan-Lawlor , who plays king pin Nidge, is “happy to pass the gauntlet on to Patrick”.

Meanwhile, RTÉ Television’s Head of Drama, Jane Gogan previously confirmed that a new season of the crime drama is in development.

“RTÉ can confirm that Love/Hate will not return to screens in 2015,” she said.

“A sixth series is currently in development with the writer and creator Stuart Carolan and Octagon Films.

“RTÉ, the producers and Stuart believe it’s important to take time before going to production with a sixth season,” she added.

Despite the rumours about a new series in development, a spokesperson for the national broadcaster has admitted there are no immediate plans for the show to comeback.

“There are no plans to bring back Love/Hate at this time,” a RTE spokesperson told Goss.ie.
