Saoirse Ronan is continuing her US awards success as she is to be honoured for her role in Brooklyn.
The Santa Barbara Film Festival has announced it will honour both the Carlow native and star of Irish-made flick Room, Brie Larson as Outstanding Performer of the Year award.
It’s the first time in the festival’s history the honour has been shared – making the it a huge coup for Irish film.

Previous winners of the coveted award include Cate Blanchett, Jennifer Lawrence, Helen Mirren and Kate Winslet.
The award will be presented on February 8 at the Arlington Theater in Santa Barbara.
Meanwhile, a new trailer for Lenny Abrahamson’s new film Room has been released.
