Cocoa Brown by Marissa Carter turned five last week – and to celebrate, founder and CEO Marissa Carter hosted a Discocoa Brunch in Pot Bellied Pig, Rathmines.

Guests danced the afternoon away whilst sipping on B Secco by Black Tower bubbles and tucking into the full-sized Donut wall, freshly baked by Boston Donuts.

Cocoa Brown by Marissa Carter sells a whopping three bottles per minute and can be found online and in-store at Primark, Boots, Superdrug and all Irish pharmacies.

Cocoa Brown made it’s tanning debut in 2012 with the world’s first 1 HOUR TAN. Since then, the brand has grown to include over 20 products, ranging from the original tanning umbrella right through to beauty and haircare.

The team at Cocoa Brown by Marissa Carter put their unprecedented success down to an innovative approach to product development and marketing.

Cocoa Brown by Marissa Carter was the world’s first 1 HOUR TAN, thanks to the brand being the first to brand to utilise DMI (dimethyl isosorbide) to ensure the penetration of tan thereby speeding up the tanning process.

In five short years Cocoa Brown by Marissa Carter has had plenty of highlights – from being featured on the Instagram feeds of social media giants such as Kylie and Khloe Kardashian, to being the official tanning partner of the pre-Oscars gifting suite.

Marissa Carter said, “The best advice I have ever received was when I was feeling awful because I was comparing myself to someone else.”

“My husband said to me, ‘Her success is not your failure.’ I keep that in mind and instead try to focus all of my energy on doing my best and constantly asking myself, ‘What’s new? What’s next? And how do I get there first?’”
