Room film-maker Lenny Abrahamson has been nominated for Best Director at this year’s Oscars.
This marks the famed director’s first ever academy nomination, athough the achievements for the film don’t end there.
In total the flick is up for four awards at this year’s movie event; Best Adapted Screenplay, Best Picture and Best Actress in a Leading Role as well as Best Director.

Emma Donoghue, who missed out on a Golden Globe last week, has been nominated for her adapted screenplay for the film.
Meanwhile lead actress Brie Larson will face competition from our own Saoirse Ronan in the Best Actress in a Leading Role category.
However, the flick isn’t the only Irish film running for Best Picture as John Crowley’s Brooklyn has also been nominated.
