The spookiest events taking place across Dublin this week for Halloween

With Halloween only a week away, there are numerous spooky events taking place across Dublin to get you in the spirit of Halloween.

From ultimate scares to late-night features at the drive-in theatre, there is something for everyone.

Here are the following events taking place in Dublin in the lead up to All Hallow’s Eve on Tuesday, October 31st.

The Nightmare Realm

This seasonal pop-up event is sure to have you gripping onto the closest person beside you as Europe’s ultimate scream park makes a comeback for another year.

Located in the heart of Dublin’s city centre, the frightening attraction features 5 maze attractions to cater to every fear.

The scream park also features 3 Scare Free Zones – perfect for younger children.

Visitors are advised to explore Halloween and refuel between scares at the popular food court.

The event runs for 24 selected nights from October 6 to November 3.

Ireland’s biggest Halloween event returns from October 6 to November 2 this year, which sees 5 terrifying haunts spread out over 100 acres of land.

Expect to be chased and tormented at this haunting experience in County Meath with prices ranging from €29 to €36.

For a less scary experience, guests are advised to visit Ghosts Of The Manor – a theatrical event brought to you by Farmaphobia and Causey Farm.

Halloween Ghost Hunt

Undertake a journey throughout the most haunted locations in Dublin, where participants will learn about the horrifying tales of the tortured spirits who reside there.

Beginning at the National Museum of Ireland on Kildare Street, this haunting experience is a combined outdoor escape room-style game, part scavenger hunt and part walking tour.

Here, visitors are the main character of the ghost story and are to follow clues and solve puzzles along the trail to uncover some spooky secrets.

This ghost hunt is the ultimate night out for paranormal enthusiasts with prices ranging from €15.99 and the experience lasting for a terrifying 90 minutes.

Horrorthon

The annual horrorthon is back at the Irish Film Institute for Halloween this year where horror film enthusiasts can get their fill of scares.

Spanning out between October 26 to October 30, the Horrorthon celebrates the film genre and offers a number of in-depth documentaries that have surfaced over the last 12 months.

Films include classics such as Bigas Luna’s Anguish on 35mm and a special screening of Psycho II on its fortieth anniversary.

Tickets cost €13 for members and €14.50 for non-members.

Retro Drive-In Movies

This drive-in cinema is the ultimate movie night out.

Based in Leopardstown, the drive-in theatre is hosting an array of spooky films in the lead up to Halloween.

Ranging from family-friendlies such as Hocus Pocus and Hotel Transylvania to horror classics such as The Shining, Poltergeist and The Omen, this drive-in cinema has something for everyone.

With a range of hot food available, this unique movie experience is the perfect cosy Halloween night out.

The Bram Stoker Festival

The Bram Stoker Festival celebrates the legacy of one of Ireland’s most iconic writers.

Drawing inspiration from his life, the gothic, the writer’s time in Dublin, the supernatural and his literary work, the festival hosts a variety of spooky festivities.

Brought to life by Dublin City Council the festival has previously taken over cathedrals, parks and squares; entertained thousands of Dubliners and visitors with parades and delved into Stoker’s literary impact: dissecting everything from his life and city to his work as a critic.

The festival is child friendly too with kid-friendly discos, workshops, face-painting, performances and more at Stokerland and beyond.
