House At The End Of The Street

This 2012 psychological thriller sees teenager, Elissa, played by Jennifer Lawrence move to a new town where she quickly discovers that the house next door was the site of a gruesome double murder.

Elissa’s life in her new town escalates when she befriends Ryan, the boy whose parents were killed in the house next door.

Before Jennifer Lawrence rose to fame in The Hunger Games Trilogy, she wowed audiences in this gripping thriller which will surely keep you on the edge of your seat.

Gerald’s Game

Gerald’s Game proves that Stephen King’s work is rightfully adapted for the silver screen, as the film is based off the King of Horror’s 1992 novel.

The film sees a couple played by Carla Gugino and Bruce Greenwood, holiday to the pair’s remote lakehouse, but when a sex game goes wrong and wife Jessie is left handcuffed to the bed – she soon faces warped visions amidst her battle to survive.

Director Mike Flanagan is familiar with the horror genre as he is known for creating Netflix’s The Haunting of Hill House, The Haunting of Bly Manor and the new show, The Fall of the House of Usher.

Halloween 

This classic sees a teen babysitter and her friends battle it out against the infamous Michael Myers – an escaped killer who returns to his hometown on Halloween night and goes on a murderous rampage.

Filmmaker John Carpenter is highly-regarded amidst the horror genre and his 1978 film is known as one of the season’s familiar classics.

Since its release, there has been numerous sequels and remakes but cinephiles will know there is nothing like an original.

Sinister

For a serious jump-scare, Scott Derrickson’s Sinister is the one to watch.

The horror follows a true-crime writer and his family after they move into a new house. When Ellison played by Ethan Hawke, discovers the house’s dark secrets and connected murders he begins to believe his family may be in danger.

Sinister’s writer C. Robert Cargill allegedly got the idea for the script from a nightmare he had after watching horror classic, The Ring.

This will give viewers a fair idea into what kind of scares to expect during this terrifying watch!

Saw

It has been nearly 20 years when Saw kicked off the franchise that has spawned 10 more films.

Another feature not for the faint-hearted, this gruesome film sees two strangers wake up in room with no memory of how they got there and soon realise they are the pawns in a notorious serial killer’s horrifying game.

This film introduced us to the infamous Jigsaw killer and sees its main protagonists fight for survival in this gory watch.
