10 things to do this St. Patrick’s Day in Dublin City

St. Patrick’s Day is just around the corner – with our annual national holiday coming up this Sunday, March 17.

The Irish capital always puts on a host of events for families to enjoy over the long weekend, including the highly-anticipated St. Patrick’s Day parade, trad sessions in Temple Bar, comedy shows and so much more.

Here is a list of the top 10 things to do in Dublin this March 17th.

St. Patrick’s Day Parade

The theme of this year’s Festival and Parade is Spréach, the Irish word for Spark, which represents the unique essence of Ireland and of Irish people.

This year’s parade will kick off at 12 noon, starting on Parnell Square North before moving down O’Connell Street and crossing the River Liffey.

Tour of the Guinness Storehouse

Visit the home of Guinness to celebrate the best of Irish music, art, food, beer and entertainment at the world’s leading beer tour visitor experience.

The storehouse will be celebrating the day with approximately 95 Irish artists, 20 international artists, 855 songs performed, and six different dance styles for nine-and-a-half hours per day!

Drink & Draw Michael D. Higgins

Create a painting inspired by Irish President, Micheal D. Higgins and get creative with alcohol while listening to cheesy music.

In under two hours, you will create a masterpiece you can keep forever- this event takes place Friday 22nd March at 6 pm.

Discover the art of blending with a whiskey tasting in ‘Room 106’, where the secrets of the unique signature Roe & Co blend are revealed..

Once they have introduced you to the art of blending, you will get a chance to create your own blend by building the perfect Whiskey Old Fashioned.

Comedy show at Sin É

Paddy’s Day Hike- The Spinc Loop

The iconic Temple Bar pub itself will be sure to have live trad music going all day.

Stroll around the Festival Quarter

The Festival Quarter is located in Collins Barracks a short walk from the Smithfield LUAS stop and Heuston Station.

The Festival Quarter is free and it’s open on the 16th (12pm – 5pm) and the 17th (12pm – 10:30 pm).
