Chris O'Dowd is ready to give up his movie career to be a stay-at-home DAD

Hollywood star Chris O’Dowd has admitted he’s ready to give up his movie career to be a stay-at-home father.

The Boyle man – who shot to fame in Bridesmaids – is expecting his first child with wife Dawn Porter early next year.

But Chris, 35, is willing to quit acting so that his wife – who is a TV presenter and author – can keep pursuing her ambitions too.

“It’s definitely going to be a change of pace altogether. I’m going to make sure to write a lot more which will keep me at home, which works out great then as I can be around more,” he said.

“I’m kind of less drawn to working on movies in Budapest or Zagreb, the appeal has lost its sparkle.

“I want to be home a lot more and if that means turning down work to be at home, I’ll do it. We don’t know what we’re going to do yet.

“There’s lots of different options. Balancing career with family won’t be easy. I love what I do but your priorities change. You realise what matters ultimately.”

And Chris, who lives in Los Angeles, said a move back to Ireland could soon be a possibility.

He added: “We’re staying put in LA for the next few years but it’s certainly an option and we wouldn’t be against it.

“It would probably mean travelling a lot more which is what we’re looking to do less of. But I’m kind of trying to develop another show to shoot in Ireland, as well as another series of Moone Boy.

“So if I’m looking to work a lot in Ireland, a move might not be out of the question.”
