Princess Beatrice has announced her engagement to Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi.

Edoardo popped the question while they were away for the weekend in Italy earlier this month.

The wedding will take place in 2020, but no further details have been announced.

In a statement, the couple said: “We are extremely happy to be able to share the news of our recent engagement. We are both so excited to be embarking on this life adventure together and can’t wait to be married.”

“We share so many similar interests and values and we know this will stand us in great stead for the years ahead, full of love and happiness.”

Beatrice’s father Prince Andrew, aka The Duke of York, tweeted a photo of the happy couple to make the announcement.

In a statement, Beatrice’s parents Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson said: “We are thrilled that Beatrice and Edoardo have got engaged, having watched their relationship develop with pride.”
