Declan Donnelly’s baby news has come at a hard time for his best pal Ant McPartlin, as the troubled star has always wanted a family.
On Sunday evening, Dec confirmed that he’s expecting his first child with wife Ali Astall – and now, it’s been reported that Ant is feeling “bittersweet” over the news, in wake of his split from wife Lisa Armstrong, and his recent drink-driving arrest.
A source told The Mirror, “Ant is thrilled for Dec and Ali but the news sparked other emotions because he has always wanted children.”
“There is some heartache and it is a bittersweet moment. Ant has gone into rehab and has recently split from his wife Lisa, so his life is just not the same as the one Ant has right now.”
Last week, Ant entered rehab for a second time and withdrew from all TV commitments, after he was arrested for drink-driving following a collision involving his Mini Cooper in South London.
Ant’s relapse came after the demise of his wife Lisa Armstrong, who he was married to for 11 years.
Back in 2013, Ant also discussed how he and Lisa were finding it difficult to conceive.
At the time he told Radio Times, “Lisa and I would love to have kids. We’re trying. It’s tougher than you think when you get a bit older.”
