Jake Carter and Karen Byrne were crowned Dacning With The Stars champions and proud owners of the glitter-ball trophy after three stunning performances in the final.
The dance duo have been blown away by the support they received throughout the competition and were understandably teary-eyed when they were announced as the winners.
The Liverpudlian lad and Ballyfermot beauty fought off tough competition on the night from Deirdre O’Kane, who celebrated her 50th birthday on the show, and Anna Geary, before the public voted them to glory.
The singer apologised when he won for inflicting many a topless performance on the public (the weren’t complaining) so when asked if topless calendars might be something he’d consider for the fans he was way ahead of us.
“There already is one actually. Well, it’s half topless.”
There’ll be no rest for the 19-year-old as he’s joining his brother Nathan Carter next week.
“We’re straight on tour on Friday, it’s mental!”
“I can’t wait to get back gigging. I love this but this weekend doing the arenas, supporting Nathan, I really realised how much I loved being on stage with that band.”
Jake has been blown away by the support he has received from the Irish public since he moved here one year ago.
“The support I’ve received is mental! I’m just a scouser that moved over here living the dream.”
Karen interjected saying “You’re not just a scouser.” To which Jake replied “Thanks” and laughed.
Karen’s fellow pro dancers remarked that it was fabulous to see an Irish pro dancer win and said they were thrilled for her.
The show has been commissioned for a third action packed series and we already can’t wait to see what celebs will be blowing the dust off their dance shoes to take part.
