Love/Hate star John Connors has told how the RTE saved him from his rock-bottom depression.
The Dublin actor admitted he was “badly depressed” and was “contemplating awful things” before discovering acting.
He said: “I was in a position where I was badly depresses and contemplating awful things and I literally just did it in desperation.

“My brother asked me why wasn’t I doing something with my life because I was getting out of hand. He suggested acting and it was like a light bulb moment.”
The Traveller, 24, was forced to ignore his local community to pursue acting after being labelled “gay” by some for being interesting.
He added: “For a while I didn’t tell anybody. I have now. When I was thinking about telling people I expected to be slagged in school.

“But instead they thought it was cool and reacted the exact opposite way to how I expected so I was surprised.”
And John – who who plays bomb maker Patrick in Love/Hate – told the Star that acting has taken off now.
He added: “I have about 50 cousins that want to be actors now. There’s always been drama in the family – but it’s nice to see it’s finally being put to practical use.”
